Vision & Aims
Our vision is for all children to leave Treleigh CP School equipped with a deep-rooted culture of respect, secure knowledge and high personal aspirations, enabling them to face challenges both within and beyond our local community - Thrive. Respect. Empower. Giving:
Every Child.
Every Day.
Every Chance.
We begin this mission within our Early Years. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) applies to children from birth to the end of their Reception year. Children join Treleigh Nursery from the age of two and progress through to our Reception class in the year they turn five. Working in close partnership with families, we support children as they begin their journey towards becoming confident, curious and active learners for life.
Within the EYFS, teaching and learning are informed by the best available evidence on how young children learn. Our practice promotes the broad range of skills, knowledge and attitudes children need to provide strong foundations for future learning and success. We recognise that every child is unique, bringing with them a wide range of experiences, interests and strengths. We believe all children deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential and are proud to offer a welcoming, safe and nurturing environment that supports this in a stimulating and appropriately challenging way.
Our curriculum has been carefully designed to support children’s learning and development across all seven areas of learning within the EYFS framework. We ensure that children acquire essential skills and knowledge through a balance of play, active learning and meaningful experiences. Central to our approach is the development of the Characteristics of Effective Learning, which underpin children’s confidence, resilience and ability to learn independently.
We recognise that high-quality adult interaction and strong language development are fundamental to children’s progress across all areas of learning. Through rich conversations, modelling language and creating communication-rich environments, we enhance children’s learning experiences and lay the foundations for lifelong success.
Our learning environment provides a balance of purposeful adult-led activities and carefully planned opportunities for children to explore, practise and consolidate their learning through play. Thoughtfully resourced and well-organised indoor and outdoor spaces enable children to develop key skills progressively. Our curriculum is clearly mapped and sequenced to ensure continuity and progression, fostering curiosity, independence and a genuine love of learning that children will carry with them into the future.
