Outdoor Learning

Our children can go into the outdoor environment daily, in all weathers, through a free-flow approach. The only times the outdoor environment is unavailable is during adult-led focus activities, and if the environment or the weather is unsafe for our children. Outdoor provision is planned and organised in a similar way to indoor provision; using a continuous and enhanced provision approach. The outdoor environment is separated into designated areas; these are set up the same each day. They are simple, tidy and organised so our children can access resources independently and tidy them away. Each area can be enhanced to support interests, themes and topics. The outdoor environment has unique characteristics that cannot be offered indoors. It offers our children the space to move around freely due to the available space and size. The environment provides opportunities to develop gross motor skills as there is a range of large-scale equipment such as; crates and guttering. Outdoors also allows our children to observe weather conditions, seasonal changes, living things and their habitats. The resources help our children learn to share, take turns, engage in cooperative play and develop their imagination.

School Readiness

Nurseries play a crucial role in preparing children for school readiness.  At Treleigh we offer a structured programme that focuses on developing essential skills such as communication, social interaction, problem-solving, and selfcare. Our programme is designed to help children build confidence, independence, and the skills
needed for a smooth transition to school. Here are some key aspects of our programme:
